This is what Pilot Rock Trail is known for. Pilot Rock Trail Reports. You will be hiking uphill to the highest point on the trail (~5300 ft.) and only then is it downhill for the last ~0.2 miles. One creek crossing near the bottom. Trail could use some maintenance. I visited on Memorial Day and only saw a few other people on the trail. Because I ride there almost 4 days a week when it comes to other trails still nothing compares to the infamous “Templeton Trail” Only thing I can think of is parts of the decent on Deer Creek trail in Denver. Only attempt this combination if you’re looking for a long day of riding and hiking! Good point–blackjack is definitely a similar sort of situation.
