What does your number mean?

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a simple index of weight-for-height that is commonly used to classify underweight, overweight and obesity in adults.

BMI values are age-independent and the same for both sexes.
The health risks associated with increasing BMI are continuous and the interpretation of BMI gradings in relation to risk may differ for different populations.

As of today if your BMI is at least 35 to 39.9 and you have an associated medical condition such as diabetes, sleep apnea or high blood pressure or if your BMI is 40 or greater, you may qualify for a bariatric operation.

If you have any questions, contact Dr. Claros.

< 18.5 Underweight
18.5 – 24.9 Normal Weight
25 – 29.9 Overweight
30 – 34.9 Class I Obesity
35 – 39.9 Class II Obesity

They are an efficient indicator for the toxic potential of chemical compounds. This book contains a list of scientifically recommended threshold limit values for about 900 chemical compounds. Because they are effective germ-killers that are inexpensive to produce, quats can be found in a wide range of products that we use in our homes every day, including shampoos, toilet cleaners, hand soap, shaving cream, baby wipes, body wash, sunscreens, moisturizers, disinfectant sprays, liquid fabric softeners, and anti-cling dryer sheets. Chemical compounds are formed by the joining of two or more atoms. We are living in a world filled with chemical compounds, some of them being the most important things we use on a regular basis. The Priority Chemicals List (PCL) is a list of existing and new chemicals that DENR-EMB has determined to a potentially pose unreasonable risk to public health, workplace, and the environment.. These include a chemicals persistence and tendency to bioaccumulate through the food chain. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are one of the biggest silent threats to human health. Provided below is a list of the chemical formulas of some common chemical compounds (along with their molecular weights). Chemical nomenclature, replete as it is with compounds with complex names, is a repository for some names that may be considered unusual. A browse through the Physical Constants of Organic Compounds in the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics (a fundamental resource) will reveal not just the whimsical work of chemists, but the sometimes peculiar compound names that occur While the ions in an ionic compound are strongly attracted to each other, covalent bonds create molecules that can separate from each other when a lower amount of energy is added to them. Chemical Storage Guidelines from The CDC Chemical Storage Guidelines from The CDC Guidelines for Safe Chemical Storage. triggering it in those who already have asthma and new onset in people with no prior asthm, oral and gastrointestinal injuries from swallowing solutions containing quats, quarternary ammonium compounds leading to resistant bacteria, its commonly used as the antimicrobial in eye care, wound healing, and veterinary care products, the same substance the immune system produces to fight infection, the disinfectants approved for use against Covid-19, What is Sodium Laureth Sulfate: Chemical Free Living. It not only requires knowledge of the toxicity of a substance, but also other characteristics of a substance that may influence the severity and duration of adverse impacts. What are Quaternary Ammonium Compounds: Toxic Chemical Free Living What are quaternary ammonium compounds or quats? To name chemical compounds, first determine whether the compound is ionic, polyatomic, or covalent. Tris(pentafluoroethyl)trifluorophosphate, an anion used in some, A generic term for the class of oxidative. These bonds are so strong that the compound behaves like a single substance. A stable compound occurs when the total energy of the combination has lower energy than the separated atoms. Lets take a look at a number of known carcinogenic chemical compounds that are produced by a burning cigarette. Pyridine-Enhanced Precatalyst Preparation Stabilization and Initiation. A well-known catalyst, named after Josi Puleo, the technician who first prepared it. The quats category contains several different commonly used ingredients, and some of the most common are benzalkonium chloride, benzethonium chloride, alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chlorides, alkyl dimethyl ethylbenzyl ammonium chloride, didecyldimethylammonium chloride, dioctyldimethylammonium chloride, distearyldimonium chloride, variants of hydroxyethyl methyl ammonium methyl sulfate, diethyl ester dimethyl ammonium chloride, and are often noted asbiodegradable fabric softening agents or catatonic surfactants. Formula: CaCO 3 Uses: Non-prescription drug for relief from acid indigestion and D.W. Green, R.H. Perry, Perry's Chemical Engineers' Handbook, McGraw-Hill, (2) 99-118, 2008. Quaternary ammonium compounds or quats are antimicrobial chemicals that are used in a variety of different products ranging from spermicidal jellies, to dishwashing liquids, hand soaps, air fresheners and disinfectants. Chemical Bonding. Your biggest friend when it comes to understanding chemical bonding is the periodic table because it's organized to group elements with similar charges together (for example, all of the alkali metals carry a +1 charge). The collection listed below presents a sample of trivial names and gives an idea how chemists are inspired when they coin a brand new name for a chemical compound outside of systematic naming. It also includes some examples of systematic names and acronyms that accidentally resemble English words. List of Carcinogenic Compounds in Cigarette Smoke. In addition, qualitative and quantitative information that is unique to the Philippines such as chemicals use and management, production quantity, percentage of release, occupational exposure, disposal methods, and technical and economic feasibility of its regulation are considered: Persistence refers to the property of a substance whose half-life in water, sediment, soil, or air exceeds duration of fifty (50) days.
