What does your number mean?

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a simple index of weight-for-height that is commonly used to classify underweight, overweight and obesity in adults.

BMI values are age-independent and the same for both sexes.
The health risks associated with increasing BMI are continuous and the interpretation of BMI gradings in relation to risk may differ for different populations.

As of today if your BMI is at least 35 to 39.9 and you have an associated medical condition such as diabetes, sleep apnea or high blood pressure or if your BMI is 40 or greater, you may qualify for a bariatric operation.

If you have any questions, contact Dr. Claros.

< 18.5 Underweight
18.5 – 24.9 Normal Weight
25 – 29.9 Overweight
30 – 34.9 Class I Obesity
35 – 39.9 Class II Obesity
≥ 40 Class III Obesity (Morbid)

This second edition includes a set of these assigned problems as compiled by one of his former students, Robert A. Schluter. Enrico Fermi was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1938. - A unique exposition of the foundations of the quantum theory of black holes including the impact of string theory, the idea of black hole complementarily and the holographic principle bull; Aims to educate the physicist or student of ... The Black Hole War is the thrilling story of their united effort to reconcile Hawking's revolutionary theories of black holes with their own sense of reality -- effort that would eventually result in Hawking admitting he was wrong, paying ... Included here are three lectures on problem-solving and a lecture on inertial guidance omitted from The Feynman Lectures on Physics. The text includes full development of quantum theory. It begins with the most basic concepts of quantum theory, assuming only that students have some familiarity with such ideas as the uncertainty principle and quantized energy levels. A concise but self-contained introduction of the central concepts of modern topology and differential geometry on a mathematical level is given specifically with applications in physics in mind. This book is intended for graduate students and researchers who want to take the first steps towards the mysteries of black holes and their complexity. Combined into one volume for the first time, the updated and clarified Exercises for the Feynman Lectures on Physics provides comprehensive, hands-on practice in all the most important areas of physics—from Newtonian mechanics through the ... Found insideThis book is an elaboration of lecture notes for the graduate course on General Rela tivity given by the author at Boston University in the spring semester of 1972. With this book and CD, we hear the voice of the great Feynman in all his ingenuity, insight, and acumen for argument. Found insideComprehensive graduate-level text by a distinguished theoretical physicist reveals the classical underpinnings of modern quantum field theory. This volume, the first of the series, presents a brief survey of the historical development and then-current problems of electrodynamics, followed by sections on electrostatics and magnetostatics, steady-state currents, quasi-static fields, ... Found inside"This beautiful little book is certainly suitable for anyone who has had an introductory course in physics and even for some who have not."—Joshua N. Goldberg, Physics Today "An imaginative and convincing new presentation of Einstein's ... Found insideThis book comprises the lectures of a two-semester course on quantum field theory, presented in a quite informal and personal manner. In the first two books in his wildly popular The Theoretical Minimum series, world-class physicist Leonard Susskind provided a brilliant first course in classical and quantum mechanics, offering readers not an oversimplified introduction, ... In this book the authors give a detailed analysis of quantum potential, the non-locality term and its role in quantum cosmology and information. 'Quantum mechanics for real. This is the good stuff, the most mysterious aspects of how reality works, set out with crystalline clarity. Found insideThe goal of this essay is to discuss the future of discovery in particle physics. Four concise, brilliant lectures on mathematical methods in quantum mechanics from Nobel Prize–winning quantum pioneer build on idea of visualizing quantum theory through the use of classical mechanics. A master teacher presents the ultimate introduction to classical mechanics for people who are serious about learning physics "Beautifully clear explanations of famously 'difficult' things," -- Wall Street Journal If you ever regretted not ... String theory is one of the most exciting and challenging areas of modern theoretical physics. This book guides the reader from the basics of string theory to recent developments. Found insideThe lectures that four authors present in this volume investigate core topics related to the accelerated expansion of the Universe. A comprehensible introduction to the most fascinating research in theoretical physics: advanced quantum gravity. Ideal for researchers and graduate students. In this provocative book, he argues that fashion, faith, and fantasy, while sometimes productive and even essential in physics, may be leading today's researchers astray in three of the field's most important areas—string theory, quantum ... Takes students and researchers on a tour through some of the deepest ideas of maths, computer science and physics. In his first book ever, the father of string theory reinvents the world's concept of the known universe and man's unique place within it. Line drawings. An exploration of the mysteries of why time works the way it does addressed by physics, philosophy, biology, neuroscience, and cosmology. And it is absolutely one you can understand. Absolutely Small develops your intuition for the very nature of things at their most basic and intriguing levels by demystifying the world of quantum science. Found insideMany of the topics in this book are outgrowths of the spectacular new understanding of duality in string theory which emerged around 1995. Six Easy Pieces, taken from the famous Lectures on Physics, represents the most accessible material from this series. The fundamental structure of matter and spacetime at the shortest length scales remains an exciting frontier of basic research in theoretical physics. A unifying theme in this area is the quantization of geometrical objects. 2012 Reprint of 1955 Edition. Exact facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. Dirac is widely regarded as one of the world's greatest physicists. This book gives an intermediate level treatment of quantum field theory, appropriate to a reader with a first degree in physics and a working knowledge of special relativity and quantum mechanics. This book offers a self-contained overview of the entropic approach to quantum dynamical systems. 'Feynman's style inspired a generation of scientists. This volume remains the best record I know of his exhilarating vision' - Paul Davies Found insideCovering the theory of computation, information and communications, the physical aspects of computation, and the physical limits of computers, this text is based on the notes taken by one of its editors, Tony Hey, on a lecture course on ... . . Read this book. " -- Albert Einstein. Using "just enough mathematics to help and not to hinder the lay reader", Lillian Lieber provides a thorough explanation of Einstein's theory of relativity. Like The Theoretical Minimum, this volume runs parallel to Susskind’s eponymous Stanford University-hosted continuing education course. The third volume in the bestselling physics series cracks open Einstein's special relativity and field theory Physicist Leonard Susskind and data engineer Art Friedman are back.
